Elevate Your Salad Game with Strawberry Gouda Chicken Delight

This was one of the best salads I have ever eaten! When it comes to chicken, I love how there are so many ways to have it. And adding the chicken to salads is one of those things that gives me an excuse to enjoy salads. For this recipe you do not really need to cook chicken again, left over chicken works best. This is because the left over chicken already has its own flavours which adds texture, flavour and variety. Gouda is also a cheese I had never tasted before, but I kind of like it, it has a salty taste that went perfectly with this chicken

WATERMELON MINT & FETA SALAD

Refreshing and delicious. This is exactly what this salad is. I love how juicy watermelons are, this makes them perfect for the hot weather especially when you find drinking water is boring. I have been loving Feta Cheese and so I decided to add them into a salad. The flavors of mint add a touch of freshness and vibrant colors.

ORANGE BANANA WATERMELON FRUIT SALAD

Nothing beats fresh vibrant fruits filled with lots of crispiness and sweetness. A fruit salad is a dish consisting of various kinds of fruit, sometimes served in a liquid, either in their own juices or a syrup. When served as an appetizer or as a dessert, a fruit salad is sometimes known as a fruit cocktail or fruit cup. There are a number of home recipes for fruit salad that contain different kinds of fruit, or that use a different kind of sauce other than the fruit's own juice or syrup. Common ingredients used in fruit salads include strawberries, pineapple, honeydew, watermelon, grapes, and kiwifruit. Various recipes may call for the addition of nuts, fruit juices, certain vegetables, yogurt, or other ingredients. One variation is a Waldorf-style fruit salad, which uses a mayonnaise-based sauce. Other recipes use sour cream (such as in ambrosia), yogurt or even mustard as the primary sauce ingredient. A variation on fruit salad uses whipped cream mixed in with many varieties of fruits (usually a mixture of berries), and also often include miniature marshmallows. Rojak, a Malaysian fruit salad, uses a spicy sauce with peanuts and shrimp paste. In the Philippines, fruit salads are popular party and holiday fare, usually made with buko, or young coconut, and condensed milk in addition to other canned or fresh fruit. I love how vibrant and colorful fruit salads are since they incorporate different fruits with their own yummy bright colors. You can make the fruit salad as simple as you like or as complicated as you want. You can even use two fruits or even as many as 10 fruits. Have fun with your fruit salad!

AVOCADO WATERMELON SALAD WITH LEMON PEPPER DRESSING

Crunchy, fresh, sweet, savory, tasty, healthy.  If there is anything I love its having fresh salad. Nothing beats vibrant colours staring at you just waiting for you to munch down. I gave you a dessert in the last recipe so I thought I would go all healthy on you, but still keeping it 100% delicious for #AvocadoAugust! Salads come in different forms and you can choose to have yours with as little or as much ingredients as your heart desires. To get the best out of salads, you can use flavoured vinegar. Put herb sprigs like tarragon, basil, Rosemary and thyme into white wine vinegar and leave for 1 month before use. Nuts add texture interest as well as flavour to salads. They also provide protein. You can try hazlenuts, pecan, peanuts, almonds and even pistaschio in salads to give it crunch. Avocado gives this salad that rich creaminess and smooth texture while the lemon pepper dressing brings it to full circle. Simple ingredients yet big flavours is what you get from this delicious salad. What are some of your favourite salad toppings?

HOW WELL DO YOU KNOW YOUR SALADS

Hey Lovelies,
It being a lazy Sunday I decided to just find some fun facts for you guys about food. Today I'll be giving you the low down on salads. We all know what salads are and most if not all of us love to eat different kinds of salads with our meals. I always thought that serving salads came with a set of rules that had to be followed, apparently not. Salads can be served at whatever point of meal taking. They do not have to be served as a side dish with meals or before eating meals. I only knew of fruit salads, vegetable salads, pasta salads and egg salads. But there are more and even different types of salads.I want to try and make a few of them depending on the ingredients that I will find. Making salads is a fun thing because you get to mix and match your ingredients and add in herbs, oils, spices and even liquids of your choice to make the ultimate delicious salad. Are there any salads that you recognize from the list of salads below? Have you tried any of the salads in the list?

CUCUMBER SALAD WITH LEMON HONEY DRESSING

Hey Lovelies,
Ever eaten a salad that you could eat all day everyday? No? Well you should try my cucumber salad with lemon honey dressing! It beats all other salads that I have had so far. Its got crunch, its got spice, its got tangyness, its got sweetness, the best part is that its filled with freshness and all the earthy flavours of fresh vegetables. The lemon honey dressing does more than just intensify the flavours, it infuses its own kind of glory. If there was a perfect match made on this earth, it would be this cucumber salad and this lemon honey dressing. This is a great way to get everyone to enjoy and eat their salad. Serve with grilled food to balance out the flavours or as a side to your dinners, better still you can even eat it on its own like I almost did lol!

AVOCADO BEET SALAD

Happy Election day Kenyans! Now lets get back to food business. Today I made a Fruit Salad. Fruits Salads are just colorful little bowls of yummy wonders. We got a bunch of fruits from Ushago (the village/grandmas home) and what better way to enjoy them all at once other than as a fruit salad. You can make ahead and refrigerate for later use but make sure you sprinkle with lemon or lime so that the Avocado or Bananas do not discolor. I'm liking the Beet root currently, it not only adds a bright red color to the Salad, but gives the Salad a lovely crunch. Most importantly the Beet root is great for your health as it increases your blood.A few pointers that I have now learnt. Mix the Beet root right at the end just before serving as it tends to discolor the rest if the ingredients. Two also add the avocado in the end and gently toss if your Avocado is very ripe. Apart from that, have fun making your Fruit Salad, add or remove any ingredient that you do not like!
