SourceJalapeños are packed with vitamins and antioxidants. Many of these jalapeño health benefits center around their overall level of capsaicin. Capsaicin is the substance responsible for creating the wide variety of heat levels of chili peppers. The ingestion or even external application of capsaicin has been shown to cause an endorphin response, which can help block pain receptors in humans. This can be extremely beneficial to those who suffer from bothersome conditions such as arthritis, headaches, or even neuropathic pain. The capsaicin found in chilies is very popular in many diet pill formulas, and there’s a very good reason. It literally burns calories and fat, and the heat it creates helps you sweat out excess water weight. Eating more jalapeños is a terrific natural alternative to these pills. It can help you meet your diet goals in the tastiest way possible. Jalapeño heat has the natural ability to get even the most clogged nostrils running. Eating jalapeños (or using a capsaicin spray) increases your mucous creation, which, in turn, loosens up any nasal blockages. Jalapeños provide potassium, iron, magnesium, copper, zinc, flavinoids, and other essential minerals. These minerals affect things like improving digestion, improving bone density, lowering blood pressure, fighting free radicals, and calming the nervous system. Source. These infused waters are making me want to drink more water. It's simple yet makes such a huge difference. Fresh blueberries are one of the most popular summer treats of all time. They are sweet, succulent, full of nutrients, and can be eaten freshly picked as well as incorporated into a variety of recipes. Anthocyanins that are responsible for the blueberry's color, contributes to the numerous health benefits of consuming the fruit. Consuming fruits and vegetables of all kinds has long been associated with a reduced risk of many lifestyle-related health conditions. The iron, phosphorous, calcium, magnesium, manganese, zinc and vitamin K in blueberries all contribute to building and maintaining bone structure and strength.Maintaining a low sodium intake is essential to lowering blood pressure. Blueberries are naturally free of sodium and contain potassium, calcium, and magnesium, all of which have been found to decrease blood pressure naturally. The blueberry's fiber, potassium, folate, vitamin C, vitamin B6 and phytonutrient content, coupled with its lack of cholesterol, all support heart health. The fiber in blueberries helps lower the total amount of cholesterol in the blood and decrease the risk of heart disease. Oranges are far more than just delicious; they are packed with nutrients that can give you many health benefits. Oranges are one of the best sources you can find for vitamin C. Eating oranges is a great way to avoid easy bruising, slow wound healing, gingivitis, dry and splitting hair, dry and splotchy skin, nosebleeds, digestive disorders, high blood pressure, certain cancers, gallbladder diseases, and many more. Thiamine (vitamin B1) helps produce new cells and break down carbs, Riboflavin (vitamin B2) helps in producing red blood cells and fighting free radicals. These nutrients are found in Oranges, others include Niacin (vitamin B3) helps boost the good HDL cholesterol, Pantothenic Acid (vitamin B5) helps produce sex and stress-related hormones and promotes healthy skin, and Pyridoxine (vitamin B6) helps regulate homocysteine levels and fights inflammation. 7 DAY INFUSED WATER CHALLENGE DAY 1 - PINEAPPLE JALAPENO WATER

7-day-infused-water-challenge-day-1-pineapple-jalapeno-water-nairobi-kitchen-recipe

I did an Infused Water recipe last week and ever since I have wanted to do more of them. Drinking the Citrus Cucumber water was so refreshing I was wondering where it has been all my life! Infusing your water with fruits, vegetables, spices and even edible flowers makes drinking water fun and wholesome. These ingredients will give your water a sweet and refreshing taste. When infusing water, the longer you let it rest the stronger the flavour will be. For Citrus fruits with peels on however, you want to drink the water within a few hours because it tends to get bitter. You can reuse the fruits for more batches but not more than three times. Now I have decides to have a 7 Day infused water challenge where I will make and post different infused water combinations. The first one is Pineapple and Jalapeno Pepper Water. Get your sweet tangy flavour from the Pineapples and a hot kick flavour from the Jalapeno. You can remove the seeds from the Jalapeno if you want a milder chili taste. I will do the seven days infused water challenge and give you my findings on these flavourful waters

CITRUS CUCUMBER WATER

citrus-cucumber-water-nairobi-kitchen-recipe

It's thirsty Thursday. Thirsty yet? Well, today I won't be boozing you up. I want you to be healthy so I'll share with you fruit infused water. Fruit infused waters are hydrating, healthy and homemade. Which means that you can combine the fruit infused water with your favorite combinations. When it comes to this drink, you can infuse your water with any number of spice, vegetables, fruits, herbs and even edible flowers. Herbs include Parsely, Rosemary, Cilantro, Thyme, Basil and Mint. For Spices you can use Vanilla Bean, Cinnamon Sticks, Garlic cloves, Cardamon Pods and fresh Ginger. Edible flowers go for Violets, Rose, Pansies, Lavender, Hibiscus and Citrus Blossoms. Fruits are Berries (can be fresh or frozen), Pears, Melon, Apples, Citrus fruits and Tropical Fruits. The best Vegetables to infuse in water are Carrots, Cucumber, Fennel and Celery. Use filtered water but if it isn't available use clean tap water. You can peel the fruits and vegetables or leave them on and avoid fruits that are too ripe or bruised, and don't use herbs that are withered or not fresh. The flavour of the fruits and vegetables will infuse more quickly with the water if you use small cubes or thin slices. Citrus fruits infuse pretty instant, Herbs take a longer time to infuse while the Berries take the longest and may even release color into the water. When infusing your water with the fruits, spices, herbs, vegetables and edible flowers, let the water sit for a few hours to allow all the flavours infuse completely. Stay hydrated and live healthy with fruit infused water that will make drinking water something that you look foward to instead of a chore that you must do. Looking foward to making more of these flavored drinks. Have you made fruit infused water and which is your favorite?
