And so continues my 7 Day Infused Water Challenge. It's day 3 now and I can't believe how much I am loving infused water. It removes all the basic nature of water and gives it a fresh new taste. These infused waters are making me want to drink more water. It's simple yet makes such a huge difference. Fresh blueberries are one of the most popular summer treats of all time. They are sweet, succulent, full of nutrients, and can be eaten freshly picked as well as incorporated into a variety of recipes. Anthocyanins that are responsible for the blueberry's color, contributes to the numerous health benefits of consuming the fruit. Consuming fruits and vegetables of all kinds has long been associated with a reduced risk of many lifestyle-related health conditions. The iron, phosphorous, calcium, magnesium, manganese, zinc and vitamin K in blueberries all contribute to building and maintaining bone structure and strength.Maintaining a low sodium intake is essential to lowering blood pressure. Blueberries are naturally free of sodium and contain potassium, calcium, and magnesium, all of which have been found to decrease blood pressure naturally. The blueberry's fiber, potassium, folate, vitamin C, vitamin B6 and phytonutrient content, coupled with its lack of cholesterol, all support heart health. The fiber in blueberries helps lower the total amount of cholesterol in the blood and decrease the risk of heart disease. Oranges are far more than just delicious; they are packed with nutrients that can give you many health benefits. Oranges are one of the best sources you can find for vitamin C. Eating oranges is a great way to avoid easy bruising, slow wound healing, gingivitis, dry and splitting hair, dry and splotchy skin, nosebleeds, digestive disorders, high blood pressure, certain cancers, gallbladder diseases, and many more. Thiamine (vitamin B1) helps produce new cells and break down carbs, Riboflavin (vitamin B2) helps in producing red blood cells and fighting free radicals. These nutrients are found in Oranges, others include Niacin (vitamin B3) helps boost the good HDL cholesterol, Pantothenic Acid (vitamin B5) helps produce sex and stress-related hormones and promotes healthy skin, and Pyridoxine (vitamin B6) helps regulate homocysteine levels and fights inflammation. Citrus fruits of which Oranges are, have among the highest concentration of folic acid compared with other foods. Folate is especially beneficial for pregnant women, since it helps prevent birth defects related to the baby’s brain and spine, reducing risks by50 percent to 70 percent. Source.
