OREO MANGO YOGURT PARFAIT

Mango season is still upon us. And what better way to celebrate this delicious fruit than making a mango parfait with it. I showed you how to cut mango cubes so now you have the best way of cutting mangoes. No more hustle about how to cut your mango. Today I'm making a yummy parfait that includes my favorite biscuits, Oreo... I could eat these little munchkins all day everyday. Anyway parfaits are simple desserts that you can whip up on the go and require very few ingredients, thus my love for them. You can make all sorts of parfaits, add any fruits, biscuits, granola and even cereals. The choices are endless, just layer your favorite combinations and you have yourself a winning combination of the best parfait in the world. Parfait from French meaning "perfect") refers to two types of frozen dessert; in France, where the dish originated, parfait is made by boiling cream, egg, sugar and syrup to create a custard-like puree which is not necessarily served in a parfait glass. The American version includes more ingredients like granola, nuts, yogurt, liqueurs and gelatin desserts made in combination with a topping of fruits or whipped cream that are layered and served in a tall glass. Recent trends introduced parfaits made by layering yogurt with granola, nuts or fresh fruits, such as peaches, strawberries, or blueberries. The oldest known recipe dates back to 1894. As you can see Parfaits have been since the beginning of time and will continue to be beyond the ages, why not indulge in this dessert and enjoy some history as well? Cheers to many more Parfaits!!!

STRAWBERRY YOGURT FRUIT BOWL

Hey Lovelies,
Sometimes you just want something delicious, comforting and easy. I think that is what Fruit and Yogurt bowls were made for. I had just had a pretty disapointing end to my baking that completely went south. So I wasn't in the mood to do anything else. I had Strawberries, Blue Berries and Yogurt, so I was like, hey, simple dessert waiting for me. Fruit bowls are endless to the way you can top them or combine them. Use one fruit, two, heck even add a dozen fruits. Then there is the seeds and nuts you can add. From Peanuts, Cashew Nuts, to Macadamia nuts. Sweeteners that you can add include Honey, Syrup or Agave and Nectar, regular ol' sugar can also do just fine. The thing I love about Fruit Bowls is that they are colorful and bright. Scientifically brightly colored Fruit or food for that matter are healthy for you. So go ahead mix up your Yogurt and Fruits and have a jolly good time won't yah!

PEACH YOGURT APPLE PARFAIT

peach-yogurt-apple-parfait-nairobi-kitchen-recipe

Today I woke up craving something sweet and healthy and the first thing that popped into my mind was Parfaits. I had just shopped a few cooking ingredients and I realized I had all I needed to make a simple healthy Parfait. You remember this Vanilla Yogurt Banana Parfait? Well I needed a different Flavor of Yogurt and Fruit to try out a new Parfait Recipe. Luckily my Yogurt was Peach and I had several Apples in my Pantry. Just a reminder of what you will be getting from Yogurt apart from it being highly nutritious.Yogurt is an excellent source of Potassium, Protein and Calcium. Not only does it provide numerous Vitamins and Minerals, it is low in calories, yeah! for that. Apples on the other hand give you your dietary Fiber needs, are low in Sodium, Saturated Fat and Cholesterol. Oh and are full of Vitamin C! So you are getting lots of antioxidants and essential nutrients that are good for your body when eating this most loved fruit. For my Apples I love to eat them with their skins on, which is highly recommended because the skin also has nutrients in them. If you prefer not to eat the Skins of the Apples you can remove them, it will not change the taste or consistency of the Dessert. This is a layered Dessert that will take you a few minutes and also to eat, because it is that damn delicious!
