MANGO GUACAMOLE

Add a tropical touch to your guacamole with mangoes that have started their season here in Nairobi. This guacamole is so delicious I practically ate up a whole bowl all by myself and I have no shame in that.It is that damn delicious! The best part about guacamole is that you can add pretty much any ingredients depending on what kind of texture you want. Want to add crisp and crunch try this bacon guacamole that was too good to have left overs. Want to give your guacamole a spicy taste? try this jalapenno pepper guacamole that was perfect for my fried dish. Some of the great nutritional values of guacamole comes mainly from the raw avocado and include  vitamins, minerals and fats, providing dietary fiber, several B vitamins, vitamin K, vitamin E and potassium in significant content. Avocados are a source of saturated fat, monounsaturated fat and phytosterols, such as beta-sitosterol. They also contain carotenoids, such as beta-carotene, zeaxanthin and lutein. Not only will you be getting great nutritional value from this dish, you will be enjoying the freshness and tangy flavor that comes with adding the ripe mangoes.

CRISPY BACON GUACAMOLE

I'm totally loving this #AvocadoAugust theme idea, it's giving me great ideas of getting out of the box when it comes to cooking especially using Avocado as the main ingredient. Hope you are having as much fun as I am bringing you delicious Avo recipes . One of the best ever dips that I always enjoy especially with grilled meat is Guacamole. This is a very favorite dip for most people who enjoy grilling season since it is simple to whip up and needs very little ingredients. I have made it before but this time I wanted to give it that extra ooomph! I needed to add a crunchy element to this dish so I thought, why not add bacon? Bacon is one of those tasty breakfast options that you can add to any other food especially if you want that crunchy salty taste to your food. I promise you, you won't have Guac any other way when you taste this crunchy bacon recipe that's unforgettable. The best thing about making Guacamole is that you can choose to make it as simple as you want or as complex as you fancy. The base ingredients for Guacamole are usually Avocado, lemon or lime and salt, then you can go as crazy as you want from there. What's your favorite ingredient to add in your Guacamole that makes it special?

AVOCADO PEANUTS PESTO

Happy New Month Lovelies! It's August! We survived the beginning of the second half of the year and here we find ourselves in another new month. I know I haven't been posting a lot but I promise this new month brings with it new delicious recipes that you will enjoy. So I was racking my brain trying to find a bit of inspiration for this new month and I thought why not make it a theme month! So the idea was born to create recipes for a whole month using the same ingredient to cone up with different dishes. The first thing that came to mind were Avocados. I love this fruit and I would put it on any food from bread, to rice, to eggs to even salads. Avocados are so versatile, who knew you could make so much with such a humble fruit? So my theme for this month is #AvocadoAugust! So excited for what I have in store for you guys! I'll be posting every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Yeah I know, such a huge commitment but letting you guys know will somehow make you to be my responsibility partners . And also I want you guys to know which days to look forward to for new recipes. So to start us off on this #AvodacoAugust month is Pesto! You guessed it, Avocado Pesto. I had never made Pesto before so I am excited to share with you my recipe that I used peanuts instead of the traditional cashew nuts. You can roast your own peanuts or buy the ready roasted ones. If you're allergic to peanuts you can totally leave them out, the avocado is rich enough on its own. What ingredients have you guys added to your pesto to make it that much more delicious? Looking forward to sharing the best that is Avocado recipes. Cheers to the new month and cheers to good food made real good!

JALAPENO PEPPERS GUACAMOLE

jalapeno-peppers-guacamole-nairobi-kitchen-recipe

Dips are just the best things to happen to snacks, all kinds of foods generally. And what is the number one Dip of all time? You guessed it, GUACAMOLE! Guacamole, Guac or whichever name you love to call it, this veggie Dip has stood the test of time and still remains the number one favorite Dip of all time. The best part is that it features one of my favourite fruits, AVOCADO! I literally could eat Avocado daily and with every food! Guac is simply Avocado marrying other ingredients, whether spices or herbs.I love all things spicy that is why for today's Guacamole, I added Jalapeno peppers, they gave it that kick that all great foods should have. Guacamole is such an easy Dip to make that you will be done in less than 10 minutes and you get to enjoy your creation. Personally I prefer the dark green Avocados but since they are not in season at the moment, I went for the dark purple ones. Still amazing result for my Jalapeno peppers Guac!
