PATATAS BRAVAS

Nothing beats crispy fries and these Patatas Bravas are the most crunchy potatoes I have eaten so far. They are a native of Spain where they are mostly served in bars as tapas. I love food that has history or a story to tell, and when I saw these I had to make them. I love how simple they are to make and the end result is totally awesome. You can devour them just as they are or dip in your very favorite sauce, hot or mild. These patatas bravas never saw the light of the next day after being cooked, thats how delicious they were!

DOUBLE FRY HOMEMADE FRENCH FRIES

Lately I have been loving homemade french fries. Simply because I know they are fresh since they are cooked in my own oil. We have all heard about places where they reuse oil so many times and cook in the same oil different things especially in fast food restaurants. Whether true or not, it still gives you that eerie feeling that you could be eating french fries on friday with oil that cooked fries last monday! I don't mean to alarm you, but, homemade is mostly better. I chose to double fry my potatoes so that I get crispy golden fries in the end. It also helps the potatoes not to absorb too much oil since the second fry gives the potatoes an extra hard coating. You can choose to boil the potatoes first before frying them, they'll be delicious.

PAPRIKA CUMIN AVOCADO FRIES

Avocado Fries. Wow! Where do I begin explaining from? I'm all for discovering new flavors, combinations and tastes, and since I'm doing #AvocadoAugust I thought why not try making fries out of this wonderful fruit? Avocado Fries are the best new thing you have to try! I made Ugali  Fries and the journey of fries is still ongoing. Healthy, spicy, crunchy yet so soft on the inside, these fries will make your life that much better! Avocado fries have been trending and it was only a matter of time before I made them. They looked delicious and I knew I had to try them. Avocados are full of healthy nutrients, great fats that are good for your body with the added benefits of being naturally sweet.

BASIC FRENCH FRIES RECIPE

basic-french-fries-nairobi-kitchen-recipe

It's French Fries Friday!!! I totally made that up but, maybe it will be a thing, maybe. French Fries or Chips or Chipo, however you call them, have always been my very best indulgence. My love for French Fries dates back to when I was very young and me and my siblings would always wait at the gate for dad to come home. We always knew that something yummy was coming when we saw his hands with a wrapped package. Back then, French Fries used to be wrapped in old newspapers. So there we were on seeing him, "daddy chololo!, daddy chololo!, daddy chololo!" Don't ask me to translate that second word for you, all I know is that we were saying that "dad is coming home!" And we'd all ran up to him, grab the package that he was carrying and quickly ran to the house to unwrap the goodies. You should have seen our faces when we opened and found that it was meat!?! Apparently even meat was wrapped in newspapers at the butchery. All the hype would immediately end and we would all disperse quietly grumbling about how dad was unfair! Simpler good times, sigh. I'm sure dad would smile wickedly at himself knowing we really didn't run to welcome him home but ran after the goodies he was carrying. As you can see me and French Fries have had a love-love relationship that will transcend time and space and money. Making home made French Fries is simple and does not take up that much time. For my first French Fries recipe I just did the basic method with two ingredients. I will definitely be trying out many other recipes that I will share with you guys. What are your childhood memories with French Fries? Have you made them at home? Holla below!
