Red Velvet Amarula Parfait – FAQs

What is a Red Velvet Amarula Parfait?
This decadent dessert layers rich red velvet cake with a creamy, boozy Amarula-infused mousse or whipped cream, often finished with chocolate shavings or berries. It’s an indulgent, no-bake treat perfect for dinner parties or festive occasions.

Can I make it ahead of time?
Absolutely. Parfaits can be made a day in advance and stored in the refrigerator. The flavors develop beautifully overnight, and the texture holds well if layered with firm whipped cream or mousse.

Do I need to use homemade red velvet cake?
Not necessarily. You can use store-bought red velvet cake, cake mix, or leftover red velvet cupcakes. The dessert is forgiving and customizable, especially when paired with the unique creaminess of Amarula.

Can I make this alcohol-free?
Yes. Replace the Amarula with heavy cream or a splash of vanilla and coffee extract. While the Amarula brings a distinctive flavor, a non-alcoholic version is equally delicious and kid-friendly.

What can I garnish the parfait with?
Fresh berries, chocolate curls, crushed cookies, or a dusting of cocoa powder are popular garnishes. A drizzle of melted chocolate or caramel also adds flair.
