COCONUT SESAME FRENCH TOAST

French Toast Tuesday. That's what I'll be doing every week. I don't know but, French toasts are becoming my new favourite breakfast option. You can literally top the french toast with jam, honey, fruit, maple syrup or sugar for a sweet dessert or making savoury with your favourite sauce like ketchup, mustard or chilli sauce. If you want dairy free french toast, you can use orange juice, wine or rose water to soak the bread before frying. I love wholewheat bread because it is not only healthy but dense and will soak up the liquid without breaking apart. I like the French because they eat the toast as a dessert not as breakfast like most of us do, well, they did invent it so they decide how to eat the french toast.
INGREDIENTS

4 Slices Wholewheat Bread
4 Tablespoons Desiccated Coconut
2 Tablespoon Sesame Seeds
3 Eggs
1 Cup Milk

METHOD

Beat the eggs and add salt

Pour in the milk and stir

Add desiccated coconut and sesame seeds, whisk well until evenly combined

Dip one piece of bread into the milk egg mixture

Dip the second side and let excess liquid fall off

Heat a non stick pan with butter and place the slice of bread. Let it cook until golden brown

Flip the bread and cook the second side too until golden brown

Place on a plate lined with a kitchen paper towel to keep warm as you cook the rest of the french toast

Coconut Sesame French Toast – FAQs

Coconut Sesame French Toast offers a tropical twist on the classic breakfast favorite by incorporating shredded coconut and toasted sesame seeds into the batter and topping. The result is a deliciously crispy exterior with a soft, custardy interior, bursting with nutty and sweet flavors. It’s perfect for those who love a unique texture and an exotic flavor profile in their morning meal.

This recipe is versatile, you can use any bread of your choice, but slightly stale bread works best as it absorbs the custard mixture without becoming soggy. For a dairy-free version, substitute regular milk with coconut or almond milk, which enhances the coconut flavor even more. Serving it with fresh fruit, maple syrup, or a drizzle of honey complements the richness and balances the nuttiness from the sesame seeds.

Coconut Sesame French Toast can be made ahead by preparing the custard mix and soaking the bread in advance, making breakfast prep easier on busy mornings. For added crunch, sprinkle toasted sesame seeds on top right before serving.
