Welcome to my li'l kitchen where I have fun preparing food from home. Nothing says welcome than a hot homemade food prepared with lotsa love and care. Nothing makes me happier than preparing a meal where I can share with friends and family. I love when I can make something out of crazy, simple and even seemingly complicated ingredients. Cooking is kind of like my therapy, it gets me excited and looking forward to doing something different and special each day. Food just fascinated me and I loved the way ingredients were combined to bring something delicious. I couldn't wait to grow up and also cook since the kitchen was out of bounds for my little hands. I guess I was the kid who didn't mind being sent for errands for foodstuff if it meant that I would stay in the kitchen as mom or anyone else was cooking. As I got older cooking just made sense and it came so easy for me. I hoped for the day I would have my own kitchen where I could experiment with recipes. Still waiting for my own kitchen but I'm glad I am old enough to be left in the kitchen alone ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜†. Cooking is just amazing! Want an awesome way to transform your bread into a spectacular piece of art? Well why not try the Water Melon Lookalike Bread. Yap! A bread that actually looks like a Water Melon, talk about lying to your brain that you are eating fruit! ;) It's actually just a raisin bread that is made to look like a Water Melon. I found the recipe here and just had to try it out myself. It looks crazy hard and complicated but if you follow through every step of the recipe, you will make it, I promise! This was my first trial at a Watermelon look alike Bread, a few mistakes here and there, like putting the oven on too high, letting the dough rise where it was not warm enough, yeah, learning curves I tell you. In the end it worked out and was very delicious. So will be making another one soon and will definitely share it. In the meantime here is the recipe for this sweet, unique bread.

INGREDIENTS

1 cup milk
11/2 tbsp butter
1/4 cup sugar
3/4 tsp salt
21/4 tsp instant yeast
1 egg
3 cups self raising flour
1 cup raisins
Few drops red food coloring
Few drops green food coloring


INSTRUCTION


Warm butter and milk together in microwave. Add milk mixture in a large bowl. Add the yeast, egg, sugar, salt then whisk it all together. Start adding flour and mix with wooden spoon. The dough should be very sticky but this is where you need to divide the dough into 2 parts. One part will be used for the red part of the water melon. The other part needs to be divided in half so you have 2 quarters…one for the green part of the watermelon, the other will remain white. You’ll have 3 pieces of dough (Red, White and Green)

Take the bigger piece of dough and add red food coloring, add a few drops to achieve the color you want. Add the raisins and more flour, knead the dough which should no longer be sticky at this point
Take one of the smaller pieces of dough and add green food coloring, mix until color is fully mixed, add flour and knead until it is no longer sticky. Add more flour to the white dough and knead until it is no longer sticky. Cover bowls up with plastic wrap and let rise until double in size. Take the red dough and punch down to remove the air then form into a log that’s same length as your bread pan

 Take the white dough and roll it out until its large enough to completely cover the red log

Wrap the white dough around the red log and make sure the seams are sealed. Take the green dough now and repeat, roll it out until its big enough to cover the log, wrap it around the log sealing the seams

Place it in your greased bread pan. Cover and let bread rise until it doubles in size about half an hour to an hour

Bake it in a preheated 350 F degree oven for about 35 minutes. Take it out of the oven and remove it from the bread pan immediately onto a cooling rack. Let it cool completely before slicing into it.
