FAQs
What ingredients are typically used in zucchini fritters?
Common ingredients include grated zucchini, eggs (or egg substitutes for vegan versions), flour or breadcrumbs as a binder, garlic, onion, herbs like parsley or dill, salt, and pepper. Cheese is optional.
How do you prevent zucchini fritters from being soggy?
After grating, squeeze out as much moisture as possible using a clean kitchen towel or cheesecloth. Removing excess water helps the fritters hold together and crisp up during frying.
Can I make zucchini fritters gluten-free or vegan?
Yes! Substitute regular flour with gluten-free flour or almond flour. For vegan versions, use flax or chia eggs instead of real eggs and omit cheese or use a plant-based alternative.
How do I cook zucchini fritters?
They’re typically pan-fried in a little oil over medium heat until golden brown and crispy on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
Can zucchini fritters be baked instead of fried?
Yes! Bake them on a parchment-lined baking sheet at 400°F (200°C) for about 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway, for a lighter version.
