Nairobi Kitchen turned ONE this year, and to celebrate I will be awarding someone with a special gift! I have had so much fun creating recipes for this blog which has grown because of your support and comments. I cannot believe it has been a full year of doing what I love and getting to share with you what has been great recipes that have been inspired by my own stories, your stories and even events in my life. It all started with this delicious, amazing watermelon lookalike bread and this journey has seen me through my favorite theme month like the avocado august month - which was a blast by the way! Look out for another theme month that is coming up in January 2019!
Pilipili Chicken Wings are a true Kenyan gem, spicy, crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and bursting with bold flavor. These wings are more than just food; they are an experience that brings people together. Whether you are hosting a party, craving a flavorful snack, or looking for an appetizer that will wow your guests, pili pili wings always deliver. In Kenya, pili pili (the Swahili word for chili or pepper) is a kitchen essential. From street food stalls selling mutura to the ever-refreshing kachumbari salad, pili pili adds vibrancy and heat to nearly every dish. When combined with juicy chicken wings, the result is nothing short of mouthwatering, an irresistible snack that balances spice, crunch, and tenderness in every bite.

Ugali Stuffed Energy Balls are a creative fusion of traditional Kenyan cuisine and modern snacking. These wholesome bites combine nutrient-rich ugali with natural sweeteners like dates, energy-boosting oats, and creamy peanut butter to form a snack that’s both satisfying and nourishing. Perfect for a quick breakfast, post-workout fuel, or an afternoon pick-me-up, these energy balls celebrate the familiar taste of ugali in a fun, convenient way. They're easy to make, easy to carry, and a hit with all ages. Christmas is just around the corner and I cannot believe it! Okay enough excitement. Today's recipe is something I have been playing with in my head . I cant believe it actually turned out so great. Kenyans do love their Ugali so I kept thinking how I can make it into a savory sort of snack but still maintaining its authenticity.
