So it's been a hectic few months with elections coming up tomorrow 08/08/2017. Elections tend to make you anxious as everyday it is always politics on TV, Radio, Social media and the internet. At some point I got tired of all the intensity and stopped watching news. So as go out to vote, let me share with you my Kenyan Flag colors inspired Crepes. Black. Red. White. Green. Those are the colors of our Kenyan Flag. Basically I just used a Crepes recipe and added food color to achieve the desired colors. I made these Crepes a few days earlier but I wanted to post them on the actual day of the election. Just showing my patriotic nature 😊😉 as we vote remembering that an election day is just that, an election day, life still goes on after that date.Well, the Crepes turned out delicious and it was almost crazy weird eating the black colored Crepes. Hey, what is cooking without adding a bit of creativity to it! Want a fun, creative way to serve your Crepes, this is perfect. You can do the colors in any design you want. It can be your country's flag colors, your favorite football team, your school's colors or any combination of colors that you want. Let me know what you think, yay or nay
Ingredients-2 Eggs
-1/4 Cup melted Butter
-3 Tablespoons Granulated Sugar
-3 Cups Milk
-Red Food Coloring
-Green Food Coloring
-Black Food Coloring
-Vanilla Essence
Method
In a large bowl combine Flour, Eggs, Butter and Sugar stirring until the ingredients are slightly mixed
-Add the Milk 1/2 Cup at a time stirring vigorously making sure the Milk is completely incorporated into the batter. Make sure the batter is smooth before adding more Milk. Repeat until the Milk is finished
-Add Vanilla Essence to the batter
-Keep stirring vigorously. The Crepes batter should be very runny like this
-Divide the Crepes batter into four smaller bowls
-Add the Red Food Color . Green Food Color, Black Food Color. The last one remains White
-Stir the Black Food Coloring into the Crepe batter, add more if not satisfied with the intensity of the color. Stir in the Green Food Coloring into the Crepes batter until you get the right shade of green. Finally stir in the Red Food Coloring into the Crepes batter add more if needed. You will now have four bowls. Red Crepes batter, Green Crepes batter, Black Crepes batter and White Crepes batter with no coloring
-In a pan over medium heat pour 1/3 Cup of the batter in the center and swirl the batter around the edges of the pan until set. Let it cook for a few seconds. To know if the Crepe is ready to flip, lift up the edge about 1/3 of the way. The bottom side should be cooked to a golden brown. Flip the Crepe and cook until the edges are starting to slightly crisp. You can start with any of the four colors. I started with red
-The red colored Crepe cooking on the second side
-Black Crepes were next to cook. Use the same process described above
-Second side of the black Crepe cooking
-Greene Crepes were next. Still use the procedure as above
-Green Crepes cooking to golden brown
-Finally I finished with the white Crepes
-Let the second side crisp to a golden brown
-Remove the Crepe from heat and cover with a paper towel to make sure that the Crepes stay warm and moist
-I arranged them as the colors of the Kenyan Flag are. Black, White, Red and then Green
-This is a fun way to upgrade your Crepes and you can do any colors that you want. Serve with a drink of your choice or you can eat them as a snack
